Dear Mr. Root,

It is my understanding, based on the articles you have penned on the Gateway Pundit, that you are a proud Jewish-American. Could you please clarify a few things from your most recent article?

In the article you declare:

● “No one practices free speech more than me. It’s our God-given right as American citizens.”

● “That’s the elitist, communist, brainwashing factory of higher education that is now the center of violent, hateful, pro-Hamas protests, building takeovers, Jew-hatred, America-hatred, Israel-hatred, and the public celebration of terrorism and mass murder (see October 7th).”

● “My free speech is protected because I’m an American citizen.”

● “Liberals never fought to protect my free speech rights under Joe Biden. I’m an American citizen, yet Democrats and my own government tried to destroy my free speech. Democrats acted like the Soviet KGB or Nazi Gestapo under Biden (and his boss Obama).”

● “But when President Trump now tries to stop the escalating violence and hatred against Jews and American citizens at Columbia and other elite college campuses, by arresting and deporting the violent Jew-haters and America-haters here on foreign visas, suddenly the left decides to defend free speech.”

What is confusing to me is that you appear to be advocating the same treatment (censorship of free speech) not only for foreigners but also American citizens who do not resort to violence but are accused of “Jew-hatred” or “hatred against Jews” or “Israel-hatred” or who participate non-violently in a pro-Hamas protest.

Could you please clarify the following issues:

1. Does an American citizen have the free-speech right to express “hatred against Jews”?

2. Does an American citizen have the free-speech right to participate in a non-violent pro-Hamas protest?

3. Should American citizens accused of “Israel-hatred” be silenced or censored?

4. Should American citizens accused of non-violent “Jew hatred” or “Israel-hatred” be charged with a crime?

5. Do you feel that American citizens who express non-violent disapproval of Jews or Israel should be summarily silenced or censored by executive officers (police, sheriff’s deputies, etc.)?

6. Should American citizens be summarily silenced or censored for alleging wrongdoing on the part of Jews or the State of Israel, even if factual?

7. Do you feel there should be laws that punish or penalize American citizens who do not resort to or advocate violence, but nevertheless criticize the behavior of Jews or actions of the State of Israel?

You are uniquely qualified to answer these questions. It would help settle a lot of controversy for a lot of people if you could clarify the above matters.
